Travelling Ted – developing home/school links
One of the ways in which we try and make links between nursery and home is by using our ‘Travelling Ted’ bears.
Each key worker group has their own bear, which children take in turns to take home and look after. The children thoroughly enjoy taking care of their bear for a few days and sharing their home life with him.
We welcome parents taking photos and videos of their child’s time with their key worker bear and then uploading them to Tapestry, our online learning journal, so that the child can ‘show and tell’ their friends all about their adventures with Ted.
Travelling Ted not only gives children some responsibility in looking after Ted, but also helps to develop their social and communication skills when sharing what they and Ted got up together at home.
