West End Workshop – Pinocchio

The children in Year 1 had the opportunity to learn a dance to retell the story of ‘Pinocchio’ as part of the West End workshops in school this year. The children thought carefully about the story of Pinocchio, predicting what would come next after each section. This was the most advanced dance that Year One have even tried before, so the children had to listen closely to the rhythm and beat of the music, and concentrate hard to follow the tricky choreography. We practiced each section of the dance separately, before putting it all together to retell the story.

All of the children were so enthusiastic and expressive, the West End Dance instructor was so impressed by our dancing superstars!

Hannah: “I liked acting out when Geppetto is carving Pinocchio.”

Molly: “I liked making the nose grow long”

Orla: “I thought the part with the whale was really fun!”
