West End in Schools – The Adventures of Ponocchio by Carlo Collodi
As part of World Book Week, Year 5 took part in an exciting dance workshop.
Year 5 participated in a structured dance workshop that encouraged them to explore movement and facial expressions that characterises Pinocchio’s early steps into the wider world. The classes were split into two groups, and each tasked with presenting a different section of the story. These were then performed in chronological order through the medium of dance. This was cleverly done to music, using freeze frames and group scenes. By the end of the session, the groups performed with great teamwork, confidence and composure, reflecting different emotions and retold the story incredibly well.
Both classes enjoyed summarising, retelling and listening to the story in such a unique way. This opportunity to experience books differently was funded by the PTA, using money generated by their fundraising activities.
