Lending library – fostering a love of books and reading
For a number of years Nursery has had a ‘Lending Library’ for all children to access, and it is still incredibly popular.
Each week, whilst in their Key Worker groups, children have the opportunity to browse a selection of picture books, which they take home and share with family and friends. Some children have particular favourites and like to keep the same book for a couple of weeks, while others love the thrill of looking through and picking out a new book for the coming week.
Building a love of reading and a respect for books is a key part of learning in nursery, and thanks to the support of our community of families, we are able to develop children’s enjoyment of books outside of nursery too.
