Outdoor learning opportunities

Reception children loved the back to school sunshine in early September, and they played outside as much as possible.

The children have learnt how to play safely: they walk to the outdoor spaces, wear sunhats and take water bottles with them on hot days. They have discovered lots of ways to use the resources outside; for example, to make water pipe systems, obstacle courses and to build models.

Reception also enjoyed digging to find treasure, tree roots and have even attempted to find Australia! They built pretend campfires and mixed mud water and natural resources to make roast dinners. Most of all, the children like to balance on the bench and swing from the tree or jump from the tyre plank.

The children’s physical skills, resilience and team work are developing well as a result. During these activities, the adults support the children to make new friends too.
