Year 6 maths competition at Roundhay High School

Recently, four children, from Year 6, were chosen to attend a maths competition at Roundhay School. This was a really exciting opportunity for them to use their maths skills to compete with children from other schools in the local area. The competition was divided into a number of rounds, each one testing a different mathematical set of skills.

The first of these rounds was similar to a crossword, but rather than trying to find words, competitors had to answer maths questions. This was the children’s favourite round, and won by Talbot Primary School. There were then several more rounds; all required effective team-work, communication and problem-solving skills.

Roundhay High School were excellent hosts and looked after everyone well. Though it was hard, the all the children enjoyed the challenge and the Talbot pupils were proud when they came joint-second.
