Soil - what lies beneath
As part of Year 4’s investigations into what lies beneath, we investigated soil.
We learned that soil is made up of finely broken down rocks and stones, minerals, water and organic matter such as decaying plants and animals. Worms play a big part in keeping the soil rich and healthy so we went out on the field to see if we could find any evidence of worms! We tried two different methods; stamping on the surface to replicate rain and pouring warm soapy water on to the surface. The second method resulted in a few worms coming out to prove that there is life beneath the surface!
