An evaporation experiment
As part of our Science learning about ‘States of Matter’, we recently learned about evaporation.
We had a great time investigating how to speed up the rate of evaporation in order to dry Bob the Minion’s socks in time for his party! We split into groups and each tested a different method (torch, blowing, hairdryer, salad spinner, washing line and squeezing).
We discovered that the best way to speed up evaporation was using the hairdryer and concluded that this was because of the combination of heat and air. We were surprised that squeezing the socks with our hands worked really well too. We enjoyed learning about how the liquid had turned to a gas when it got heated; especially when we pretended to be the particles and acted out the process!
