Dissolving investigation

As part of our Changing State topic this Autumn, we have been looking at the different states of matter and how we can change between them.

We have looked at the process of dissolving and how it can be identified. To do this we looked at solving a ‘Murder Mystery’ where a solution had been left in order to solve the ‘murder.’ We looked at a variety of solids and how they reacted when they were mixed with water. Some dissolved and some did not and this helped us solve the case.

We then carried out a fair test by changing just one variable and used very careful observations to reach our verdicts.
