For our Harvest Festival this year, Mr Pickering led assemblies about helping others through sharing. The backdrop to these assemblies was our Harvest display made from the generous food donations from our families.
Between us, school collected well over 1,000 items of food, which were bagged up by some of Year 6 pupils. These donations will be collected by a charity called PAFRAS, which stands for Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers. The Harehills based charity will distribute the food amongst families of refugees and asylum seekers who have moved to Leeds. Many of whom have escaped desperate situations in their own countries and have reached England with very little.
I am certain that it will make a positive impact on their lives – both physically and emotionally.
Talbot Primary School is a School of Sanctuary; this means we are aware of the difficulties faced by refugees and asylum seekers and we would always welcome them to our school.
