As we do annually, Talbot celebrated Harvest by collecting donations of food from our school community. The response was terrific and many families sent entire carrier bags of food. All of these donations will be packed and sent to a Leeds based charity called PAFRAS (Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers). They will ensure the food is distributed families who have fled war and persecution to start a new life in Leeds. As an accredited School of Sanctuary, this is a cause we fully support.
The two Harvest Assemblies were brought to life by some lovely singing, stories about Harvest and the school prayer. It felt like a true community event. Even the weather helped out by showing us autumn has truly set in! Thank you to those parents and carers who gave us some very positive feedback. It is always nice to hear when we are on the right track.
Lastly, thanks to Mrs Rehman who organised our Harvest assemblies; to Mrs Liddington and Mrs Glosek for leading the singing; Beverley Gilbert (from St Andrews Church) who spoke about being grateful for our food; the Reception and Year 3 parents who attended the assemblies in great numbers, the teachers and pupils who organised our Harvest display and everyone who sent in their donations.
